Abstract
The isoimmune hemolytic disease of the newborn due to anti-C is characterized by the progressive neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and anemia, which is caused by the IgG antibody transmitted from the mother to the fetus across the placenta.
ABO and Rho(D) incompatability have been the most commo9n hemolytic disease of the newborn, but recently the incidence of the Rho(D) incompatibility is decreased due to the prophylaxis of anti-D immunoglobulin for the Rh negative mother and that
of
the
incompatibility of minor blood group seems to be increased.
A one-day old male newborn infant was admitted at our hospital because of severe progressive jaundice and anemia, which were developed within the several hours after birth. The hlood groups of his father, mother and him were O, CcDe, A, cDE and
A,
CcDEe, respectively. The mother's indirect antiglobulin test was positive and the direct antiglobulin test was negative. The newborn's direct and indirect antiglobulin tests were weakly positive. The mother's anti-C titer was 1:16 in albumin
phase
and
1:128 in antiglobulin phase and newborn's titer was 1:2 in antiglobulin phase. He was treated with both an exchange transfusion and phototherapy.
So, we report this case with a brief review of relevant literatures.
